Visa instructions for the Netherlands Antilles or Aruba (for non-Romanian citizens)

  • As from January 1st, 2005 Romanian citizens can travel without a visa to the Netherlands Antilles (Curaçao, St. Maarten, St. Eustatius, Saba and Bonaire) for a maximum of 90 days in a six-month period.
  • As from October 1st, 2006 Romanian citizens can travel without a visa to Aruba.

General conditions:

  • The visa applications are accepted on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, between 9:00 - 12:00 hrs.
  • The visa fee is paid at the counter of the Embassy upon presentation of the application.
  • The applications have to be made in person.
  • Presentation of the following documents is a condition for treatment of the visa application, but is no guarantee for obtaining the visa. If necessary, the Embassy may ask for further documents or information.

 1.  Passport + Residence permit for Romania (originals and photocopies);

2.   1 application form and 2 recent passport photos;

3. Invitation:

 3a.            Tourist  invitation (for visiting friends/relatives):
An invitation from a private person in the Antilles or Aruba (in original!)

  • stating the name of the person invited, the exact dates of the visit, a guarantee for the costs of the stay in the Antilles or Aruba and the return of the invited person to the country of origin or of long term residence. Without this guarantee, the Embassy may ask for proof of financial means of the applicant.
  • it is recommended to add a recent salary proof and copy of the passport or residence permit (both sides) of the referent.

3b.            Business invitation:
      An invitation from a company in the Antilles or Aruba, on official company paper, signed by an authorized person in the company:

    • stating the name of the person invited,  the exact dates and a description of the reason of the visit, the accommodation during the visit (hotel reservation or with referent) and the following guarantee (in English or Dutch): “…….(name of the company) guarantees all the costs for the Dutch State and other public institutions that may result during the stay of ……….(the applicant’s name) in the Netherlands Antilles/Aruba”;

3c)            Without an invitation: proof of accommodation and sufficient financial means:

  • written confirmation of a reservation by a hotel in the Antilles or Aruba, OR a rental contract or owner-documents of a house/apartment in the Antilles/Aruba;
    • proof of sufficient financial means: USD 100,- per person/per day in Traveller’s Cheques (original + photocopy); 

 

4.   Proof of transport:

  • A return ticket (original + photocopy) or a reservation;

5.   Medical insurance (original and photocopy):

  • Valid for the whole period of the trip and stay in the Antilles or Aruba.

6. Professional documents (in addition to documents 1-5):

 a.   For company owners

  • statutes of the company and Registration certificate (originals + photocopies);
  • proof of solvability of the company or of existing business relations with the company in the Antilles or Aruba (last balance sheet, bank accounts over the last 3 months, contracts, invoices, export-import declarations etc) (originals and photocopies).

b.   For employees (business visas):

  • A (less than 3 months old) legalized copy of the company statutes;
  • A letter from the employer, on official company paper, stating the name of the employee, his/her function in the company and the reason for the trip to the Antilles or Aruba  on behalf of the company.
  • proof of solvability of the company or of existing business relations with Dutch company in the Antilles or Aruba (last balance sheet, company bank accounts over the last 3 months, contracts, invoices, export-import declarations etc) (originals and photocopies).

c. For employees (tourist visas)

  • work contract (original + photocopy);
  • vacation declaration.

d. For students/pupils

  • student/pupil identity card, signed and stamped (original + photocopy);
  • vacation declaration.

e. For retired persons

  • Last pension card (original + photocopy)

 

  • The application must be approved by the authorities of the Netherlands Antilles. This takes aprox. 2 weeks.
  • This type of visa is not valid for the Schengen Space.
